Bannerghatta National Park ( Part 3 ) : Safari and the zoo

I love doing safari - this is an excellent opportunity to observe up and close the free range wild animals in their natural habitat. The Bannerghatta National Park comprises the following sections:

Herbivore Safari
Lion and Tiger Safari
Bear Safari

I boarded the Safari bus at 11 Am. All safaris start at this time.

This is the Ragihalli Reserve Forest

I have to put in a word of praise for all employees at the National park. They were well informed, courteous, friendly, and eager to please. For protection the safari bus is wire meshed with few spots left all around to take pictures, gaze etc. The conductor offered me a front seat and i had the vantage point from the front as well as the sides. I  would not have been able to capture the shots I did had this seat not been taken. Some of the shots were taken by the driver also ( for the sightings on the right side ).

We start with the HERBIVORE SAFARI

The vegetation here is more suited to herbivores. It contains bamboo and other edible grass species intermittent with water bodies.

The animals found here are Sambar, Cheetal, Barking Deer, Gaur , Black buck, Nilgai, wild boar.

 BEAR SAFARI

This part of the forest area is planted additionally with varieties of fruit yielding trees to create a natural habitat for bears . There are 78 (40 males + 38 females ) in this area.
